Senior TechOps Architect

• Join Octopus Energy, the innovative UK energy supplier, in a full-time remote role across the UK. • Help build a small, thoughtful and effective TechOps team, a modern and lean take on enterprise IT. • Make high-level strategic and architectural technology decisions across Octopus Energy Group globally. • Work across identity management, scripting, device management and scalable tooling in a cloud-first environment. • Mentor the wider TechOps team without direct people management. • Stay close to users by helping with day-to-day support alongside strategic work.

• Bring experience leading technical projects across a range of technologies and platforms. • Use scripting and APIs to automate repetitive, error-prone tasks. • Support, manage and deploy applications to macOS, Windows, iOS and Android devices. • Understand Mobile Device Management systems at the API level. • Bring experience with modern IAM systems such as Okta, Microsoft Entra, JumpCloud or PingIdentity. • Administer and troubleshoot SSO and provisioning technologies such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML and SCIM. • Understand SSO and identity provisioning at a protocol level. • Manage multiple teams and stakeholders while handling lots of ambiguity. • Explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical senior stakeholders. • Show experience mentoring less experienced team members. • Challenge traditional norms and advocate for modern approaches. • Be based in the UK.

• Bring experience administering email gateways and email routing. • Understand email security standards such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC. • Use git and GitHub for code changes and CI/CD. • Deploy macOS software with Munki and AutoPkg, and Windows software with Chocolatey and PowerShell. • Show experience integrating different identity providers. • Bring familiarity with TypeScript, Python, React, Remix or Django. • Know security tools such as CrowdStrike EDR, Kolide, osquery or Zscaler.

• Define what good looks like for a small, lean TechOps team. • Solve tough technical issues as the business scales to tens of thousands of people. • Make wide-scale strategic technical decisions across Octopus Energy Group globally. • Design and improve processes, automations and systems that improve user experience and keep the team small. • Mentor TechOps colleagues and guide them on technical projects. • Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support alongside the team. • Work with the Security team to balance security, productivity and user experience. • Manage supplier relationships and procurement for SaaS and hardware. • Lead complex projects such as identity provider migrations, MDM rollouts and SaaS migrations for acquisitions.
