Product Engineer (all levels)

• Help build a world-class product used regularly by millions of people, figuring out what it really takes to absorb household complexity. • Act as a hands-on technical leader across some of the highest-leverage areas of the codebase, from agentic capabilities to scaling service logic. • Get context, end-to-end ownership, and lots of agency to iterate fast. • Build the product directly at times, whether a new product line, a core improvement, or an experiment, usually working with one or two others from a rough plan. • Build the multiplier at other times: the safe surfaces and shared tooling that let a non-engineer ship without breaking things. • Report directly to the CTO and sit in the room for key architectural and product decisions, in a company deliberately light on management layers. • Work in small product squads of around 5 to 7 people with a single shared objective. • Work office-first from Farringdon at least three days a week, with pragmatic flexibility for heads-down work.

• Bring a minimum of 2 years of professional experience, with Nous hiring across mid-senior through staff and above. • Own problems end to end, going from fuzzy pain to shipped fix to the numbers that show it worked. • Ask what the smallest thing you can ship to learn is, rather than waiting for a perfect spec. • Think like a PM as much as an engineer, caring about the problem, the user, flow, UX, and copy as much as correctness. • Build pragmatically, writing clean, practical code others can extend, and knowing when to abstract and when to keep it brutally simple. • Delete your own code happily when reality disagrees with it. • Build leverage for other people, explaining complex things simply, pairing on gnarly problems, and treating tooling that unblocks a teammate as real work. • Be here for the problem of making fairness, money, and complexity manageable for people without time to fight the system. • Work in the Farringdon office at least three days a week.

• Bring experience with full-stack TypeScript, React, Postgres, and Temporal for long-running orchestration. • Bring experience with AWS, Terraform, and observability tooling such as Sentry and Datadog. • Bring experience with data tooling such as Snowflake, Omni, dbt, Fivetran, Amplitude, and Segment. • Bring experience building agentic systems or internal AI harnesses. • Bring experience with open banking, insurance, or other regulated consumer financial products. • Apply even if you do not tick every box, as Nous looks for a mix of “this is me” and “this would stretch me”, and assesses earlier-career candidates primarily on growth trajectory.

• Build agentic capabilities and scale the service logic behind Nous’s household management service. • Take product lines from idea to shipped, as engineers here have done with open banking subscription management and car insurance. • Work on architecture that turns complex, long-running workflow changes from weeks into minutes, safely and with full type safety. • Build and iterate on the internal agentic harness that helps the team ship faster and investigate cross-system issues. • Compose capabilities such as agentic communication, multimodal data extraction, orchestration, and recommendations into workflows that deliver real member outcomes. • Build tools for the team every week and evolve how the team works to compound its effectiveness. • Solve problems at the intersection of engineering, product, and regulation. • Shape the stack itself, since Nous picks the best tool for the job rather than fixing on specific technologies.
