Senior Software Engineer - Network Platforms

• Join the Network Platforms team, formed to build and extend the network software infrastructure that delivers traffic through critical paths of Cloudflare’s global network. • Work on systems that directly affect traffic across Cloudflare’s infrastructure, spanning numerous products and millions of customers. • Build software that sits at the heart of the mission to make the internet faster, safer, and more reliable. • Work across the full span of the traffic path, from the host server Linux kernel to the network hardware dataplane to the physical interconnect at an adjacent network. • Participate in every stage of the software development lifecycle, from design and documentation through code and automated tests to production deployment and monitoring. • Collaborate with engineers across the company, from operations teams to those building customer-facing products. • Operate under a Run What You Build model, owning the health of your systems and taking part in the team’s on-call rotation. • Work from London on a hybrid basis, with the role also open in Austin and Lisbon.

• Bring systems-level programming experience in Go, Python, Rust, C, or C++. • Bring a solid grasp of BGP and internet routing. • Bring experience with Linux kernel network stack development, particularly with eBPF. • Work confidently with complex distributed systems and internet protocols and technologies. • Bring experience implementing, deploying, and debugging mission-critical distributed systems. • Dive into new technologies readily, with a demonstrated track record of doing so. • Collaborate and communicate strongly across teams. • Adopt and integrate AI tools and systems into your engineering workflow. • Take part in the team’s on-call rotation as part of your operational duties. • Stay growth-oriented and comfortable operating outside your comfort zone at massive scale.

• Bring familiarity with vendor switching SDKs. • Bring familiarity with SR-MPLS, sFlow, BGP-LS, and PCE protocols. • Bring experience writing packet-processing software such as eBPF at TC or XDP, or DPDK. • Bring professional experience with AI-assisted development tools for code completion, codebase analysis, or log and data exploration. • Bring experience participating in an on-call rotation. • Spot problems everyone else has normalised and build a solution with the latest tools.
