About the role

💼 What you will do

• Play a central role in Paddle's complex and expanding tax function, which is integral to the business model and recognised as a key driver of company strategy, with tax at the heart of Paddle's value proposition as a Merchant of Record. • Report directly to the VP of Tax, taking ownership of tax accounting, reporting, and mixed compliance activities across the organisation. • Work as part of a collaborative global team of 10, drawing on the support of other managers and analysts to deliver outcomes across both direct and indirect tax matters. • Serve as a go-to technical resource across the business on compliance and commercial tax matters, and help shape how the tax function evolves.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring substantial experience in a similar direct, indirect, or mixed tax role, ideally within a complex multinational environment. • Hold a recognised professional accounting and/or tax qualification. • Bring 3–10 years of post-qualification experience in a tax role, looking to take on broader ownership and responsibility. • Bring a strong working knowledge of the tax environment for multinational groups. • Be comfortable managing and influencing cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the business. • Have experience managing relationships with external advisors and holding them to account for delivery. • Have handled complex, large-dataset Excel and Google Spreadsheets day-to-day, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, SQL, or other tax technology. • Work with a high level of accuracy, meet strict deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Have experience with transfer pricing policy, R&D claims, or tax planning. • Have led one-off projects such as establishing new corporate structures or registrations. • Have managed ad hoc tax queries from customers in a Merchant of Record or similar model. • Have mentored or supported more junior members of a tax team.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Take ownership of tax compliance for Paddle across multiple territories, including all associated filings, payments, accounting entries, and audit management. • Drive transfer pricing policy, R&D claims, and tax planning activities. • Lead one-off projects such as the establishment of new corporate structures or registrations, and manage ad hoc tax queries from Paddle's customers. • Manage relationships with third-party advisors and agents, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery across relevant areas. • Draw on the expertise and capacity of other managers and analysts within the group to coordinate and execute broader workstreams. • Collaborate with and support more junior members of the team, contributing to a positive, knowledge-sharing culture. • Proactively monitor global tax policy and legislative developments, assessing their implications for Paddle.
