Senior Product Designer

• Design experiences for millions of users across WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Tumblr, Jetpack, Simplenote, and the wider Automattic product ecosystem. • Work closely with engineers, marketers, and customer support specialists from around the world in a fully remote company. • Create products that make online publishing and commerce accessible to everyone. • Help keep the web free and open.

• Have experience integrating AI tools, automation, and code-assisted workflows into the design process to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and iteration. • Utilise AI and augmented design practices in daily work and effectively communicate and share these practices with the team, including coaching and mentoring sessions. • Bring past work experience relevant to Automattic: consumer products, remote work, WordPress, eCommerce, site editors, or similar. • Identify user needs, define clear solutions, and deliver them through detailed design. • Design flexibly in both low and high fidelity, choosing the most efficient and responsible process for the job at hand. • Integrate feedback, validate, and iterate on products while being mindful of customers, contributors, and insights from support teams. • Align business strategies and technical limitations while designing solutions that provide exceptional user experiences. • Communicate excellently in writing and verbally — you'll collaborate with others and present your work regularly in written format. • Be proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma is used) with familiarity with product development cycles. • Demonstrate strong UI and visual design skills with a portfolio showcasing your craft in both written and visual form.

• Have direct experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, or Tumblr as a designer or power user. • Have experience contributing to open-source or design communities. • Have previous experience working in a fully remote or distributed team.

• Design exceptional products from start to finish, participating in all phases of design from definition to development and optimisation. • Iterate actively with prototypes at all levels of design fidelity, informed by user research, market trends, and business goals. • Communicate and share often in written, verbal, and visual forms to create alignment and move work toward implementation. • Collaborate regularly with engineers to ship high-quality experiences. • Contribute to both Automattic products and the larger open-source and design communities.
