About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join the Security team to establish Wayve’s security assurance capability from the ground up. • Design and operate the processes, methodologies, and relationships that enable continuous validation of security controls. • Support certifications such as TISAX and ISO 21434, meet customer contractual commitments, and strengthen trust across the organisation. • Give customers and stakeholders confidence that the security programme is operating as intended, at a scale that keeps up with growth. • Shape how assurance evolves as a fast-growing engineering organisation scales. • Work closely with teams across Wayve to move assurance from periodic, manual testing towards continuous, data-driven validation. • Help engineering teams build stronger security through objective evidence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • Work hybrid from the London office.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring experience designing, building, or operating security assurance or controls assurance in organisations with modern tech stacks. • Understand security controls deeply and evaluate both design and operating effectiveness. • Bring experience working in cloud-native, SaaS-heavy environments and collaborating closely with engineering teams. • Develop assurance methodologies, perform control testing, and communicate outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Challenge control effectiveness independently while building collaborative relationships that help teams improve. • Communicate strongly and influence stakeholders across the business. • Stay pragmatic, balancing strong governance with the realities of a fast-moving, engineering-led organisation. • Be based in London for this hybrid role.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring experience supporting security assurance programmes for frameworks such as TISAX, ISO 21434, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar. • Bring experience helping organisations evolve from periodic assurance towards continuous assurance. • Bring familiarity with assurance techniques in cloud-native and software engineering environments. • Hold professional certifications such as CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or similar. • Apply even if you do not meet every requirement, as Wayve encourages people passionate about self-driving cars to get in touch. • Let Wayve know if you need any accommodations or adjustments to take part fully in the interview process.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve Wayve’s security assurance capability. • Develop pragmatic, risk-based assurance methodologies that give confidence security controls are working. • Define testing approaches, assurance plans, and reporting that support the security programme as it matures. • Build trusted relationships across Wayve so assurance is embedded in how the company operates and seen as insight rather than burden. • Perform ongoing assurance activities to validate the design and operating effectiveness of security controls. • Produce objective, evidence-based assessments and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. • Track assurance findings through remediation and validate that issues have been effectively addressed. • Support external assessments, certifications, and customer assurance activities with trusted evidence. • Partner with the Security Analytics Engineer to automate evidence collection and replace manual activities with scalable, data-driven approaches. • Develop repeatable testing methodologies that increase consistency, quality, and coverage. • Contribute to the evolution of Wayve’s security control framework by improving control design, measurability, and assurance.

🚀 Why Join - Our Take

Wayve is one of the most exciting AI companies in the UK right now. They are tackling one of the hardest problems in technology, teaching machines to drive, and they are doing it with an approach that the rest of the industry is now converging towards. Backed by SoftBank, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Uber, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Stellantis, Wayve has raised $2.8 billion in total funding and reached a valuation of $8.6 billion. With over 1,000 employees across London, Silicon Valley, Vancouver, Leonberg, Herzliya, and Tokyo, Wayve is scaling fast while keeping its London HQ at the centre. What stands out on Glassdoor (4.4/5 from 112+ reviews) is how consistently employees praise the culture, the calibre of colleagues, and the quality of the technical work. People describe it as some of the most interesting work of their careers. Wayve also offers an on-site chef, private healthcare, competitive pay with equity, and a genuine learning environment where you work alongside world-class ML researchers and engineers. That said, some reviews flag that the pace can be intense and that working across global time zones can stretch working hours. If you are an engineer, researcher, or operator who wants to work on genuinely frontier technology with real-world impact, and you thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments, Wayve is a rare opportunity.

😃 What Wayve offers

• Build a security assurance capability from scratch rather than inheriting an established one. • Shape how assurance evolves as the engineering organisation scales. • Deliver independent, evidence-based assurance over controls supporting TISAX, ISO 21434, and customer security commitments in your first year. • Introduce automation into assurance activities in partnership with the Security Analytics Engineer. • Build partnerships across internal teams that make assurance collaborative rather than a point-in-time exercise. • Work hybrid, combining time in the London office with working from home.
